Wagmu is a system that allows you to log the foods you eat. But more than this, Wagmu acts as a guide, giving you tips about quantities and foods that would better meet your nutritional requirements, and at a cheaper cost.
Wagmu is designed by John Raffensperger, a lecturer at the University of Canterbury, and uses the principles of operations research to help you meet your nutritional needs. You can read more in the Introduction to Wagmu and About Wagmu sections.
The Food Plan allows you to log foods you have eaten. To add a food, simply click “Type a food word, then select...” and type in a search term. Once you have found the food you want, click it with your mouse. You can learn more about this in the Food Plan Help Page.
Just set the quantity to zero, and refresh the web page.
The best way to save Food Plans is to copy them to a future date, by clicking the “Copy this plan to another day”. That way, if you have a great day where you like the food and it is highly nutritious, you can easily repeat that food plan another day.
Yes. To display this data, click on a heading in the toolbar, and then click “columns.” From there, you can select whatever columns you wish. For more details check out the Food Plan Help Page.

Wagmu doesn't have supplements in its database yet. A large amount of science has shown that supplements are usually expensive and unnecessary, and sometimes harmful. Wagmu's powerful Suggest feature should be able to help you get your nutrients without supplements.
Wagmu can't directly address allergies yet. Be careful to select foods that you can safely eat.
All Wagmu users share access to food plans and recipes. Your food and nutrient data may be anonymously viewed or copied by other members, and such data may be used in summary statistics displayed on Wagmu. More details about Wagmu's privacy policy can be found in the Wagmu User Agreement.
The Recipe Panel provides a space for you to create single entries in the food dropdown menu for foods you often eat together. Recipes can be as simple or as complex as you want. You can make a recipe with just one ingredient, and use it as synonym for a particular food, or you can create a recipe for something as detailed as your favorite meal. You can learn more about the Recipe Panel in the Recipe Panel Help Page.
The Recipe Panel lets you enter a name, instructions, number of servings, and ingredients for a given recipe. Ingredients are added to recipes in much the same way that foods are added to the Food Plan. To see a more detailed explanation, have a look at the Recipe Panel Help Page.
Suggest takes the foods you’ve currently logged, and suggests new quantities for them, that will better fulfill your nutritional requirements, and reduce your cost. You can learn more about it on the Suggest Help Page. If you want to find a new food that will provide you with a nutrient you are lacking, try using the Wagmu Suggest Dropdown, instead.
Sometimes Suggest will propose quantities that are not the amount you want to eat. For example Suggest might recommend that you eat 9.64 eggs, or 100 slices of tomato, or perhaps it tells you you shouldn't eat any chocolate.
Fortunately, Suggest allows you to adjust these quantities. This is done through the radio buttons, which are to the right of the quantity. "=" fixes amounts to exactly what you've entered, while "-" sets a maximum, and "+" sets a minimum, while "+/-" leaves the amount totally open.
Thus, you can adjust what Wagmu suggests, until it is something you like better. However, once you find a plan that you are happy with and that meets your nutrients, you need to eat all of it. Since your food plan has been optimized to fulfill all your nutrients, remember to eat everything in it, or you may be short on nutrients. Similarly, don't eat more than is on your food plan, as this may cause you to go over on nutrients or energy.
Yes! This is exactly what Wagmu is for. Try using a combination of the Suggest feature and the Wagmu Suggest Dropdown. Suggest will propose new quantities for you to eat, while the Wagmu Suggest Dropdown will show recommend foods to add to your plan to improve its nutrient profile or reduce its price.
Try using the Wagmu Suggest Dropdown. It will show recommend foods to add to your plan to improve its nutrient profile or reduce its price. It is revealed when you click on the pumpkin near where you enter a food.
